It is necessary to use instruments that are especially suited for the two different states of zirconia. This prevents the prosthetic restorations from being damaged.
Z-Cut Diamond Instruments for preparing zirconia
Zirconia is a material with a promising future in prosthetic dentistry. The special properties of zirconia place extreme demands on the preparation and the instruments required for preparation. At the IDS 2009 NTI-Kahla GmbH has introduced the Z-Cut line, which sets new standards in zirconia preparation. The design of the Z-Cut instruments is tailored to the extreme hardness of zirconia ceramic. They have a longer service life and much greater cutting capacity than standard instruments. Even slimline diamond instruments are highly efficient. This is attained using modified electroplating bonding technology. Eight selected shapes allow preparation of all types of zirconia crown and bridge restorations.

Diamond Discs
Slimline diamond discs with full-coverage coating for use in the ceramic and CAD/CAM techniques
The full-coverage coating of these very small discs facilitates separation and contouring, particularly in areas that are difficult to access. The small diameter in combination with the full-coverage diamond coating makes it easier to separate crowns and bridges from sintered and unsintered zirconia blocks. Their fine diamond coating guarantees quick preparation without chipping on all types of high-performance ceramics. The very thin discs simplify contouring of ceramic and composites in the cervicalinterdental areas as well as in the vestibular and oral regions when preparing anatomical textures.
The galvanically sintered edge of the diamond disc offers excellent cutting performance.
The cutting disc can be used on all ceramics. The galvanically sintered edge offers maximum stability and a high diamond density. This guarantees that the cutting disc will have a long service life. The cutting wheel is operated at 18,000 – 20,000 r.p.m., using light working pressure (the weight of the handpiece).
Turbo Diamond Disc for use in a laboratory turbine for contouring interdental spaces and cutting through ceramics. For laboratory use only. The disc is not approved for intraoral use.
Pre-Polishing
Refined Finish
High -Shine Polishing
Rubber polishers for polishing zirconia. The rubber binder absorbs heat during polishing and prevents overheating of the zirconia.
AllCeramic SuperMax
As the AllCeramic bonder is a ceramic itself, it trims all porcelains chemically purely. The gentle trimming properties of the ceramic bonder reduce heat build-up. This prevents damage to the zirconia framework.
FT Diamond Instruments for milling turbines
The FT range, which is very popular with customers, has been extended to include super-fine and ultra-fine grit sizes. These instruments are manufactured using modified electroplating technology and new diamond grains. This makes it easier to contour surfaces when milling all types of high-performance ceramics, including zirconia.
